Executive Director’s Speech at the closing event of Two Days Community Dialogue on GBV for young Males in Juba, September 22, 2023
Gentlemen,
As we draw this meaningful community Dialogue on Gender Based Violence (GBV) for young males in Juba, South Sudan, to a close, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has made this event possible. This gathering, organized by our dedicated implementing partner SSCBO and generously funded by the International Coalition of Sites for Consciousness, has been a significant step towards addressing a critical issue.
Throughout our discussions, we have heard powerful stories, shared experiences, and gained valuable insights into the challenges young males face in relation to GBV. We have exploited strategies for prevention, support, and empowerment and have reaffirmed our commitment to creating a safer and more equitable community.
It is crucial to remember that ending GBV is not a one-time event but a continuous journey. The conversations and connections formed here today are just the beginning. It is our collective responsibility to carry these conversations forward, to involve more voices, and to implement the solutions we have discussed.
Let us work together to challenge harmful stereotypes’, promote healthy relationships, and provide young males with the tools they need to be allies in the fight against GBV. By doing so, we build a society where everyone, regardless of their gender, can live free from violence and discrimination. Once again, I thank each one of you for your active participation and commitments to this cause.
Let us leave here today inspired and determined to create a brighter, safer future for the young males of Juba, South Sudan, and for all those affected by GBV worldwide. Thank you, and may our collective efforts lead to lasting change.
Opio Moses Korsuk
